Las Vegas Police to Quit Responding to Many Car Crash Accidents

Brian Nettles, Esq. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has announced that it will no longer respond to car crash accidents were no injury is reported at the scene. They contend that property damage reports without injury take up 55% of their time and 250 man hours a week. In the past 18 months, LVMPD has shed 30 traffic officers. OOIDA sues CARB over Truck and Bus Regulation

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California, against the California Air Resources Board today in connection with the Truck and Bus Regulation. The Association has asked for an injunction saying the regulation is unconstitutional and discriminates against out-of-state truckers.   The Truck and Bus Regulation, otherwise known as the CARB regulation, requires 1996-2006 model year trucks more than 14,000 pounds to be replaced or retrofitted with particulate matter filters and prohibits older trucks that have not been replaced or retrofitted from operating on public roads in California.
