NHTSA Urges Owners to Act on the Takata Airbag Recall, 8 million Vehicles Involved

Pamela Mullis, Esq. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) is urging owners of a wide range of cars to act immediately on the recall of of Takata airbags. Takata is a Japanese automotive parts company that has production facilities on four continents, which help it supply car parts like airbags and seat belts to big name companies across the world. Chris Welsh, Esq. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling a bike helmet that can fail to protect you in cold temperatures. Thankfully, no injuries have yet been reported. If you own a Louis Garneau P-09 aerodynamic bicycle helmets, you should immediately stop using it and return it to Louis Garneau USA for a refund or replacement. About 1,180 helmets were sold through January to September 2014 at independent bike dealers nationwide and online at Louisgarneau.com for between $280 and $350. GM Acknowledges Defect Death Count Has Risen to 23, Payouts Begin

Tad Thomas, Esq. The GM ignition switch death toll has risen from 13 to 23. The confirmation comes from attorney Kenneth Feinberg, largely known as the expert on disaster payouts. Many have suspected far more deaths (hundreds more) since the beginning of the recall, but GM staunchly confirmed only 13 until now. IKEA Children’s Swing Recalled for Risk of Injury

Popular Scandinavian home furnishing store, IKEA, is recalling their children’s swing, “GUNGGUNG.” due to the risk of serious injury from falling after suspension fittings suddenly break. The CPSC advises that consumers stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed by the agency. The CPSC recall press release offers the following information: “This recall involves IKEA GUNGGUNG Swing. GUNGGUNG is intended for indoor and outdoor use by children ages 3-7.
