New York AG Fires Round 2 Against Herbal Dietary Supplement Makers -Nature’s Way, NBTV, and Pharmavite

Matt Mittenthal, spokesman for Attorney General Schneiderman has made public  four information request letters, each sent this week to Pharmavite LLC, of Mission Hills, California, maker of the Nature Made brand; NBTV Inc. of Ronkonkoma, New York, maker of Sundown Naturals, Nature’s Bounty, Met-Rx, Solgar, Vitamin World and other brands; Nature’s Way Products Inc. of Lehi, Utah, maker of Nature’s Way brand; and Nutraceutical Corp. of Park City, Utah, maker of Herbs for Kids and other brands.

Attorney General Schneiderman, according to the spokesman said “It‘s important for both retailers and manufacturers to verify the contents of the products they sell so that consumers can be protected against deceptive claims on packaging, and against potentially dangerous reactions to undisclosed ingredients.”

The companies have until March 13, 2015 to provide information on the controls in the product supply chain, literally “farm-to-bottle,” labeling and analytical techniques, as well as detailed financial information that include sales contracts made by the parent company and any subsidiaries.
